Kevin joined MSL in April 2017 as Manager for the Length and Mass Quantities team, which provides high-level calibration services, training, research and advice in the areas of mass, volume, pressure, density and length based measurements. He is passionate about metrology and enjoys engaging with all areas of the measurement community. Kevin is on the committee for the Metrology Society of Australasia and works alongside this industry-led networking group supporting New Zealand's measurement infrastructure.
Prior to joining MSL, Kevin spent eight years working with New Zealand's legal metrology body, Trading Standards, located within the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment. In his role as the Legal Metrology Advisor, Kevin oversaw NZ's trade measurement system, providing policy advice to support and ensure the system was administered and enforced in accordance with the Weights and Measures Act 1987.
Kevin is from Scotland originally and, prior to his move to New Zealand in 2009, spent three years working for a legal metrology authority with a significant amount of time spent in a UKAS accredited laboratory.
